In contrast to levodopa it is independent of the presynaptic dopaminergic terminals for storage and release <a href=\"#source\">(Hagell et al., 2001)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apomorphine is a strong lipophilic compound and its positive motor effect depends on its concentration in the cerebrospinal fluid. Due to the high first pass effect of Apomorphine, the bioavailability of the oral formulation is very low. Apomorphine is a substance with a high hepatic clearance, only 3 \u2013 4% is eliminated unmodified with urine <a href=\"#sources\">(Neef, et al., 1999)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After a subcutaneous (s.c.) injection, the absorption rate depends on the local blood circulation at the injection site and amounts to almost 100%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Dacepton<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> works in the brain:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-vimeo wp-block-embed-vimeo wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Mode of Action Clip Dacepton\" data-src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/652011230?h=206e7da5c3&amp;dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write; encrypted-media\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" data-load-mode=\"1\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-theme-section alignfull\"><div class=\"wp-block-theme-section__content\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-main-title\" id=\"safety\">Safety<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Apomorphine hydrochloride hemihydrate should be given with caution to patients with renal, pulmonary or cardiovascular disease and persons prone to nausea and vomiting. Extra caution is recommended during initiation of therapy in elderly and\/or debilitated patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since Apomorphine may produce hypotension, even when given with domperidone pre-treatment, care should be exercised in patients with pre-existing cardiac disease or in patients taking vasoactive medicinal products such as antihypertensives, and especially in patients with pre-existing postural hypotension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Especially at high dose, Apomorphine may have the potential for QT prolongation, caution should be exercised when treating patients at risk for Torsade-de-Pointes arrhythmia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apomorphine is associated with local subcutaneous effects. These can sometimes be reduced by the rotation of injection sites or possibly by the use of ultrasound (if available) in order to avoid areas of nodularity and induration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Haemolytic anaemia and thrombocytopenia have been reported in patients treated with Apomorphine. Haematology tests should be undertaken at regular intervals as with levodopa, when given concomitantly with Apomorphine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The support for adverse events can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.d-minecare.com\/adverse-events\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"682\">here<\/a>&nbsp;. <a id=\"_msocom_1\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Caution is advised when combining Apomorphine with other medicinal products, especially those with a narrow therapeutic range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Neuropsychiatric problems co-exist in many patients with advanced Parkinson&#8217;s disease. There is evidence that for some patient`s neuropsychiatric disturbances may be exacerbated by Apomorphine.
